The $42 Gold Secret Buried in U.S. Law

There's a number buried in U.S. law that hasn't changed since 1973.

$42.22 per ounce.

That's still the official value of America's gold reserves.

Today, gold trades thousands of dollars higher.

The United States holds over 260 million ounces of gold.

On paper, it's valued at roughly $11 billion.

At market prices, it's worth over $1 trillion.

It will move before most investors realize what's happening.

Those who positioned early benefited.

Those who waited for confirmation were forced to react.

Woman killed by patio umbrella while dining at South Carolina restaurant

A woman died after being struck by a patio umbrella during strong winds at a lakeside South Carolina restaurant over Memorial Day weekend, officials said.

The incident occurred Saturday evening at a restaurant along Lake Marion in Summerton, authorities said.

The woman and her husband were dining on the restaurant's patio "when a sudden strong wind blew an umbrella from a table," striking the woman in the head and neck area, the Clarendon County Coroner's Office said in a statement.

California congressional candidate refuses to say Pledge of Allegiance in resurfaced clips

California's 7th Congressional District candidate and Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang is receiving pushback after videos resurfaced of her refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance.

Over Memorial Day weekend, multiple clips showed Vang turning aside or staying silent during city council meetings as members said the Pledge of Allegiance toward the American flag. As recently as Wednesday, Van was seen with eyes downcast during the pledge.

Vang, who has held her Sacramento City Council position since 2020, previously addressed her refusal to say the Pledge of Allegiance in a 2025 Facebook post.
